Serving West Seattle, White Center, and Burien
The West Seattle Timebank is neighbors exchanging time to help neighbors.
At its most basic level, time banking is simply about spending an hour doing something for somebody in your community. That hour goes into your Timebank account as one credit hour. You then have a credit hour to spend on having someone do something for you. All talents/skills are valued equally.
Timebanking builds a non-monetary community of support. It is about engaging socially with others in your own community -- without any money being exchanged.
Timebank Mission: West Seattle Timebank builds connections between members and member organizations as they exchange services, skills, talents and time.
Timebank Vision: We envision strong communities that value the time and resources of all people who are equitably valued as an asset in a sustainable, non-monetary economy.
Timebank Core Values:
- Respect for all human beings is important.
- Everyone is an asset; society’s real wealth is its people.
- All work has value; some work is beyond any monetary price.
- Reciprocity: Giving works better as a two-way street.
- Community: We need each other.
